Simple, solid and serene, Pine Grove’s modern structures reflect and celebrate historic Midwest agrarian building forms and their landscape. These architectural attributes guided design and construction of Pine Grove, both inside and out, in making a functional compound custom built for a family of seven. It was situated atop a subtle rise along Bethel Avenue, then married to a gentle slope among a grove of Eastern White Pine. The grove, originally planted in rows by a Boy Scout Troop in the 1960’s, covers 3.5 acres of the 5 acre tract. New tree plantings since construction of the home include, red oak, red maple, chinkapin oak, beech, black gum and yellowwood, among lesser species. The 5000+ sf. main house and elevated east and west wings.
